Born and raised in Japan as a Dutch-American, I have always been interested in the way language and culture affect how things look – especially interface design.
At the University of Pittsburgh, I am a Frederick Honors scholar studying Interaction Design with minors in Information Science, Spanish, and Global Studies. By majoring in Interaction Design (DNID), a joint program between the Computer Science and English departments, I am able to pursue advanced coding projects while also having the space to research how liberal arts shape human-computer interaction.
Recently, I interned as a UX Researcher at Broadcom where I worked on building design systems, modernizing enterprise software, and conducting research on applications of AI in UX.
When I'm not building out design systems on Figma or conducting research to lay out the best information architecture, I'm probably experimenting in the kitchen. I LOVE trying new foods from all corners of the world, and I'm working to make national dishes from as many countries as possible! You'll find more dishes on my Instagram, @saskia.makes.
